The Cascade Blues Association (CBA) annually acknowledges its favorite Blues artists, bands and events by awarding its "Muddy Award" to the winner(s) in each of 20 designated categories. The award consists of a special bust of Muddy Waters with an inscribed plaque on its wooden base.
The "Muddy Award" is named after one of the most meaningful Chicago Bluesmen ever, Muddy Waters. Muddy's contributions to the Blues scene was invaluable! His incorporation of the electric guitar into Blues transformed the modern era. He is the most recognized post-war Bluesman and it is in his honor the "Muddy Awards" are presented.
The "Muddy Award" ballot nominations are made by The Cascade Blues Association membership. They are compiled each year from write-in nomination ballots. The top three in each category are placed on the "Muddy Award" ballot in random order. The final ballot reflects the winner in each category based upon a vote of the CBA membership. To be inducted into The CBA "Muddy Award Hall Of Fame" a nominee must win the award three consecutive years in the same category. A most prestigious feat indeed!
The CBA "Muddy Award Hall Of Fame" now has 13 bands and artists inducted into its honored ranks. In celebration of 10 years of the "Muddys", each of those 13 inductees have contributed one of their performances to the "Muddy Waters Tribute CD" project. The monies from this CD project will go to benefit the CBA's Christopher Mesi Memorial Music Scholarship Fund and the many events the CBA promotes each year.
The 50+ minutes of music presented on this compact disc represents the top Blues acts in the Pacific Northwest as voted on by the Cascade Blues Association membership. We hope you enjoy it!
