Mark Hummel Plays The Pines - Sep 6, 09
Mark Hummel has regularly made frequent trips through our area over the years. But most recently, they have always been while fronting his outstanding Harmonica Blow-Off showcases. And though these presentations are loads of fun, offering a mix of some of the best blues harp players around, it does give you just a limited glimpse at how wonderful these musicians really are.

So for the first time in several years, Mark Hummel will be coming back to Northern Oregon with just himself and his superb band, The Survivors, which also includes one of the best West Coast guitarists on the circuit today, Rusty Zinn. Over the past three decades, Mark Hummel has consistently proven why he is amongst the very top harmonica artists in the world, with multiple Blues Music Award nominations to back that fact. Currently touring in support of his most recent Electro-Fi CD release, Ain’t Easy No More, Mark has released many recordings over his career, including a trio of Harmonica Blow-Out collections and a recent sampling of music from his now out-of-print material appropriately titled Odds & Ends.Whenever he performs it is a party that will get people moving to his groove, which usually includes a walk-through the house that collects many of the audience members following along. For fans of blues harmonica, this is one show not to miss!
Mark Hummel & The Survivors will be playing at The Pines Tasting Room (202 State Street) in downtown Hood River on Sunday, September 6th, from 8:00 to 11:00 pm. This is a CBA co-sponsored event, so make sure to show your current CBA membership card for a $1 discount at the door.
