PG3 (Portland Guitar Three) 2nd Annual Super Show for OMHOF
Hurray! Buko Magazine’s 2nd annual PG3 line-up has been selected and ready to sooth your blues, rock your soul, and shred you into oblivion!
A full benefit for OMHOF to help benefit dwindling music education programs in schools, each year we select from the absolute best NW guitar players from 3 different genres to play a cream-of-the-crop set of their own material, then duel it out on an all-star jam. Backed by a stellar hand-picked backup band, this year will feature Robbie Laws, Geoff Metts and Eddie Martinez.
Everyone knows Robbie’s steeped devotion to the blues, yet some may not really know the other prowess he possesses. Yes, back in the early 80s he handily won a rock guitar contest, playing Yngwie Malmsteen songs note for note…the dude can seriously shred!
Eddie started as a session man in New York in the late 1970s and ended up playing lead guitar with such names as Mick Jagger, Robert Palmer, Run DMC, Blondie, David Lee Roth and many, many others. Oh yeah, he is also a PDX resident! We found him playing regularly in the heart of the city and captured him. To say he will blow your top is the understatement of the year!
Geoff Metts is the frontman and guitarist for PDX’s most prominent and successful rock band, Western Aerial. Geoff is a powerful riff-master who has a great all around stage presence and amiable nature to connect the dots and bring the show together. Last year’s debut featured shred-Mistress, Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson/ Jeff Beck), bluesman Terry Robb, and PDX’s most prominent rock guitarist Geoff Metts. The incredibly gifted trio blew everyone away with their perspective sets, proving their prowess song after song, all the way through to their all-star finale.
These fine musicians are dedicated to their craft and have agreed to bond for the evening to contribute the very best of their abilities while helping to raise money and awareness for music education.
This is an all-ages show and will include a raffle for one lucky winner to take home a brand new electric guitar played and signed by all 3 stars. Card-carrying CBA members get $1 off the ticket price.
Please come out and help support music education programs, while taking home an evening you’ll never forget! Sunday, August 7th, 6-9pm at Mission Theater, 1624 N.W. Glisan St., Portland. For more information, visit: http://pg3.buko.net/
