The Rolling Tones - Sep 09
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 01 September 2009 06:15
Ladies and gentlemen, please allow us to introduce the “world’s greatest tribute band” - The Rolling Tones! Honoring the group that musical historians acknowledge as being highly instrumental in the modern rebirth of the appreciation of the blues, as well as a resurgence in the careers of many blues artists including Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Willie Dixon and Buddy Guy. By covering several seminal blues songs in the early ‘60’s, then touring with their “heroes” throughout the last 40 years, the Stones have helped to “pass the torch” to new generations of listeners as well as inspiring countless players to get back to the roots of their craft.Starring Andy Madson on lead vocals, guided by the twin guitar attack of Bob Louthan and Tim Baltus, and supported by a stellar rhythm section of bassist Dan Golden, drummer Gene Wood and keyboardist Jack Codron, this cast of local all-stars really captures the spirit of blues and rock & roll in all its glory. Utilizing period costumes, spot on renditions of the “classics” and a great sense of purpose, this entertaining act has been performing for capacity crowds throughout the Northwest. Recent shows at the Rose Festival, The Venetian Theatre, Oregon Zoo Brew 2009, WINESTOCK, CLACKAMAS LIVE, the Portland Roadster Show and a string of casinos and festivals have met with critical acclaim and sold out venues.
Friday night Sept. 18, starting at 9pm, The Rolling Tones will make a rare Portland appearance at the legendary Refectory, located at 1618 NE 122nd. Promoters are already predicting a sold out room, so get there early for preferred seating, then stay for a “meet and greet” after the show. Experience the glory and power of the blues with this exciting and entertaining tribute extravaganza. For updates, check their website: www.myspace.com/rollingtonesmusic.

Boogie Bone - Sep 09
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 01 September 2009 06:11
Boogie Bone has been laying low and working on a new record for what has seemed like an eternity to us . “BONE-A-FIED” our second record of all original material is done, and we have scheduled a release party Sept. 12 at The Trails End Saloon. Advanced cuts are already getting some play on the air so please tune in to these blues music shows that support our local music, and let the DJ’s know what you want to hear.We feel fortunate to live here in Portland where there is such an abundance of fine musicians and radio support for local artists. But we all need to help each other out, so please get out to the clubs and expose yourself to some of the world class talent on display here on a nightly basis, and tune in to the radio shows that do the same. The current state of the economy and the world in general has given us a great opportunity to have the blues, don’t let it go unnoticed.
A few thanks are in order to the people that have made our second record possible: The Big B.A. Bob Ancheta - KINK.fm, Tom Addis - KMHD.fm, Nadine Colb - KPSU.org, Steve Pringle - KMHD.fm, Brad Lee Brenner - KMHD.fm, Greg Johnson (you know who he is), Steve Spoulos - KRVM.org, Ryan Foster - Freq Mastering.
We save our biggest thanks for the Bone Heads who have bought our records and seemingly never miss a show. If your are interested in keeping up with Boogie Bone news please sign up for our e-mail list: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The Sinners Club - Sep 09
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 01 September 2009 06:10
As fall approaches, THE SINNERS CLUB’s now infamous “Perpetual Motion Tour” continues its blistering pace with a few well chosen local stops this month. Saturday night, the 19th will find the band headlining the Washington County A.B.A.T.E. “End Of Summer Run” in Birkenfeld, one of the largest and wildest biker rallys in the state. Along with their regular Thursday night open jam sessions at Mojo’s in Vancouver, you can also catch the lads hosting another dance marathon during their weekend residency at Beaverton hotspot Monty’s on the 25th and 26th. Even with their busy schedules, each band member has also been finding time to spend on other interesting side projects.Drummer extraodinaire’ Greg Raschio has nearly completed his summer long test of various cymbals to add to his burgeoning collection. His amazing “roving” version of the classic surfer anthem “Wipeout”, has suddenly become a highlight of the group’s evening shows, with Raschio combing that night’s venue for new surfaces to pepper with the song’s signature tattoo beat. Guitar slinger Jade Stone continues work on his “secret” underground recording studio, while co-picker Brian Jones passes the musical torch to new generations of student players, and also moonlights with at least 3 other bands on his “off” nights. Frontman Dan Golden, also known as The Hofner Guy, has been enjoying his role as “Bill Wyman” in the tribute act The Rolling Tones, playing festivals, casinos and showcases throughout the region. In fact, the “World’s Greatest Tribute Band” will be playing a rare Portland area show at the legendary Refectory on Friday night the 18th. Rumors are already circulating that Dan will break out his vintage ‘68 Vox Spyder bass for this special occasion. Catch more information on The Sinners Club Hotline: (503)649-6366 or the website: www.myspace.com/jointhesinnersclub.

Cee Cee James - Sep 09

Well July was certainly one heck of a month juggling more gigs than we’ve had in a month all year, along with new sub lead guitarists and drummers, which as you all know results in extra rehearsals and preparation. It basically boils down to the truth of “it’s a lot of work ta sing the blues!” Someday I’m just gonna show up and everything is gonna be already done. Hummm... can it be possible? Can dreams come true!?! Ha!!!At any rate, the GREAT news in July is that we took 2nd place in the first round of the WA Blues Society J2M Finals which happened on July 26th. Thank you WBS Judges! By the time this newsletter comes out, we will already know if we are headed to Memphis or kicked to the curb by one of the other great bands in the finals which include The Randy Oxford Band, Mary McPage Band and The Dennis Chester Jones Band. In my humble opinion, we all should go! I mean I really don’t know how the judges make any kind of sane decision in the process. It must be completely maddening!
September brings us two great festivals that we are honored to play in.. The Rendezvous Blues Festival in Oroville, WA and Sunbanks near Electric City, WA as well as some other great gigs.
It’s a true joy to be able to go out and give of my soul in my performance and singing, so a big thanks to all the fans who come out to enjoy and have fun; and as always to the Cascade Blues Association, The Washington Blues Association and all of the Blues Associations around the country and the world. Without you, the Blues wouldn’t be alive like it is.
Onward!!!

Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies! - Sep 09
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 01 September 2009 06:08
We lucky devils, in Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies!, were introduced to another beautiful Oregon town last month when we played an evening concert in McMinnville at historic (established in 1858!) Linfield College. A wide expanse of manicured green lawn surrounded by towering oaks, and a crowd of people eating cheese and sipping wine greeted us heartily. I Personally had no idea that McMinnville was so cool. Yes people..we’ll be back! This month we look forward to visiting another Oregon town known for it’s natural and historic beauty when we stop by Astoria on Sat., Sept. 19 to do a quick Blues By The Sea set before heading off to the Roadhouse 101 for the rest of the night. See y’all!Jeff the drummer

Richie Bean & the Catillacs - Aug 09
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 21 July 2009 21:21
Hey everybody,
Well, summer rolls along, don’t it? We’ve been really busy, so the usual thanks goes out to all the people supporting live music. I always love to see two things: People returning to see us again & again, and people dancing. So like I always say, go out and support live music! I only made it to the festival one day this year (4 gigs that weekend), but it was great. Woodbrain & Magic Slim, Yeah! Wish I coulda been there more.
Yes, the inevitable is about to happen, Leon Holder is joining the Catillacs! Leon and I have been playing together since before Hudson Rocket formed, and this will be our 4th band together. As you know, he’s a great keyboardist and will be a killer addition to Crash, George and myself. We’ve done a couple of gigs under the King Juju name too, you can find those as well as my solo gigs at www.myspace/richiebeansolo.com <http://www.myspace/richiebeansolo.com>
A special thanks goes out to Lisa Mann and Robert Richter for playing at blues night at Pop Culture on July 15th. Both put on a great show, and the audience really loved it. The next blues night is on August 19th, so watch for it. The Catillacs will once again be at the Clark county fair on Sunday August 16th on the Columbian Family Fun stage at 3:30. If you’re there that day stop by and say hi, we’d love to see you. You can check where else the Catillacs are playin’ in the calendar section, or go to www.thecatillacs.com, www.myspace/thecatillacs.com.
Also, don’t forget to get tickets to Blues By The Sea. Hope we see you out and about.

The Troublemakers - Aug 09
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 21 July 2009 21:21
Thanks to all the die-hard CBA fans who helped us kick off the Blues Festival T-Makers’ style—harmonica fueled and swampified! It was also the kick-off for us of a summer full of festival shows throughout the NW, including the CBA picnic.
In September, look for “Troublemakin’ Tuesdays” at the White Eagle. We’re holding court every Tuesday night from 8-11pm, with special guests and Portland’s first WIN THE BAND Contest. Come out on Tuesdays and enter your name in the sweepstakes to win a free performance for your best party ever, or to throw a fund-raiser for your favorite charity. On the last Tuesday in September, we’ll pick the lucky winner. Look for more details on our Web site and keep your ear to the grapevine.
