Allen Markel and I (aka Mrs. Markel!) want to thank everyone who participated and attended our wedding and reception, you made our nuptials so very special. Extra thanks to Jim Miller, who came up with the crazy idea of getting married on stage, Peter Dammann for making it happen, Sonny Hess for sharing her stage with us, and to Jan Bisconer and the Refectory for making our reception a gala event.
If you want to see video, go to www.facebook.com/lisamannmusic and go to my links.
Also, keep your ears open for a project I am working on with the Children’s Cancer Association, there’s a talented young woman named Ashley Willoughby who is co-writing a song with me for a benefit CD for the CCA. Ashley has been fighting Ewing’s sarcoma, but she has an indomitable spirit and a great sense for inspirational songwriting that will lift your spirits. KINK studios will be behind the project, which will be finishing up in August. I will post more news as the project develops.
Thanks again!

The Sinners Club - Aug 09
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 21 July 2009 21:17
The current leg of The Sinners Club’s “Perpetual Motion Tour 2009” is heating up faster than a Traeger grill. Hot on the heals of last month’s incredible road trips to the coast for shows at Chinook Winds Casino and Roadhouse 101 in Lincoln City, the band now switches direction and heads north.
They have been invited to play Sat. Aug. 15th at the prestigious Clatskanie “Rhythm By The River” Blues Festival, that in the past has featured such great local artists as Curtis Salgado and Ellen White. This year’s show also boasts an incredible line up and is worth the 90 minute journey along one of Oregon’s most scenic drives.
Other standout shows this month include stops at the First Street Pub in Newberg Fri. the 14th, a return to Tigardville Station in Tigard on Sat. the 15th, and a “home court” weekend at Mojo’s, home of their legendary Thursday night jam session on the 28th & 29th to tie things up. This open jam , known as “the friendliest jam session around”, is in its 6th year, making it one of the longest continuously running sets in the Metro area.
Good things are also happening for the vaunted Oregon Rock and Blues Research Library. Head curator Dan Golden reports that the search is on to find a central location available to the public to more easily take advantage of this amazing musical resource, believed to be the largest privately held collection of its kind in the state. The library boast thousands of volumes of books, magazines, videos, memorabilia and reference material, much of which cannot be found in public collections or on the internet. The free Vintage Instrument Identification Service is another unique offering for general use. For more information, call The Sinners Club Hotline: (503)649-6366.

Hello Everyone!
Well July was a super busy month for us getting the band out and about up here in Washington and beginning to meet some of the great players and performers in this region. We are finding the entire NW to be full of blues folks that are just stellar in their talents and attitudes!
I also have had the pleasure of discovering someone from the Southern part of Oregon who has been blowing my mind with her talent and who just won the CBA Journey to Memphis competition—Ms. Karen Lovely! All I have to say is WOW-ZAAAA! From what I can hear and see, that woman flat out deserves to win the IBC.
When we got booked for the Klamath Blues Festival which takes place August 29th, I had no idea who Karen really was when I saw her on the bill. I went and listened to her material and thought why isn’t this woman headlining, and to be honest, I was intimated by her skills. I still am!!! But I know that each one of us has our own unique gifts to give in this world of blues music. I just happened to find a new someone to become a huge fan of among the many others I deeply admire. (If you happen to receive the Washington Blues Society Newsletter, I wrote an article about this very topic in the July issue.)
So, if you are planning to come down to the Klamath Blues Festival—ROY ROGERS IS HEADLINING—you might be in for a special treat as Karen and I are thinking about doing a duet either during her set or mine! Woo hoo!!! I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy!!!! Ha!!!
As well, while you are down there you can catch our set at Roscoe’s BBQ in Phoenix, OR—about an hour NW of Klamath Falls on Friday the 28th and dig your hands into some of their famous BBQ delights!
Cheers, and BIG CONGRATS on what looked to be another HUGELY successful Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival!

Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies! - Aug 09

Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies! want to thank all of the wonderful souls in Corvallis for coming out to support us headlining the Red, White, & Blues Festival on the fourth of July. Even though Jenelle, my wife, is a dedicated Duck, we were welcomed into Beaver country with open arms and loud applause. We were delighted to be able to see some old friends and make many new ones. If you’ve never ventured south to check this place out, I recommend it highly. It’s a beautiful town that shares the mighty Willamette with Portland. This month we’ll once again play an Oregon college town when we do a rare weekday concert at Linfield College In McMinnville on August 4th. See y’all there!
Peace, Jeff the drummer
