Cascade Blues

Keeping the Blues AliveThe City of Roses is also the City of the Blues...

Portland, Oregon is widely recognized for its vibrant blues scene. Here are a few ways you can learn more about our local blues community.

The Cascade Blues Association is the Proud Recipient of the Blues Foundation’s “Keeping The Blues Alive” Award for 2003!

This award is presented to the blues society that has been the most active in the past year through its newsletter, educational efforts and community outreach programs. It's the highest attainable honor for non-performers in the blues industry, created to recognize the behind-the-scenes professionals and fans who keep the Blues thriving and forging ahead.

Allen Markel and I (aka Mrs. Markel!) want to thank everyone who participated and attended our wedding and reception, you made our nuptials so very special.  Extra thanks to Jim Miller, who came up with the crazy idea of getting married on stage, Peter Dammann for making it happen, Sonny Hess for sharing her stage with us, and to Jan Bisconer and the Refectory for making our reception a gala event.

If you want to see video, go to www.facebook.com/lisamannmusic and go to my links.

Also, keep your ears open for a project I am working on with the Children’s Cancer Association, there’s a talented young woman named Ashley Willoughby who is co-writing a song with me for a benefit CD for the CCA.  Ashley has been fighting Ewing’s sarcoma, but she has an indomitable spirit and a great sense for inspirational songwriting that will lift your spirits.  KINK studios will be behind the project, which will be finishing up in August.  I will post more news as the project develops.

Thanks again!
