Recap of 3/16/07 Event @ Dishman Community Center

The Matt Dishman Community Center BITS performance on March 16, 2007 was exciting for the Center and for our program. A very small but appreciative crowd of Dishman staff, parents and students were in attendance, as well as CBA Board of Directors Secretary Marc Taylor.

The Dishman Hip-Hop Dancers did some fundraising for their dance team by selling hot dogs and cookies to the crowd. They also gave two performances of new routines they have been working on at the Center. BITS artists Fred Anderson and Kinzel & Hyde donated CDs and other merchandise to the Dishman Dance Team. The young and talented T.J. Moor gave an inspirational performance and was well-received by the attendees.

Upcoming Events for 2007!

We've scheduled several BITS-related events that are coming up here in 2007, so please head on over to the BITS Calendar page and see what's ahead!

Blues In The Schools Benefit Concert, 10/14/06

The first 2006 BITS benefit concert coincides with the CBA's 20th Anniversary Party on Saturday, Oct 14, 2006. It will be held from 2:00-10:00pm at Sweet Home on Sandy (9004 NE Sandy Blvd. -- NE Sandy & 90th/Prescott).

Blues in the Schools is honored to present great acoustic music from Lee Blake, Joe McMurrian, Kinzel & Hyde, Lauren Sheehan, Fred Anderson, the Original Snakeboy and Whit Draper & Johnnie Ward. There is no cover charge for this event. A BBQ lunch/dinner will be offered for a reasonable price, and the profit from food sales (as well as any donations from attendees) will be split between Blues In The Schools and the Family Holiday Food Program. (The FHFP provides family Thanksgiving dinners, family Christmas dinners and gifts for children to fifteen needy families in NE/Park Rose district every year. This will be the seventh year the Sweet Home on Sandy has distributed the food boxes and gifts.)

New Blues In The Schools Committee, August 2006

The newly reformed BITS committee is comprised of CBA Board of Directors members-at-large David Moore, LynnAnn Hyde and Shelley Swaffer.

Besides fundraising activities like the benefit concert below, the return of CBA sponsored workshops and clinics as well as continuing support of the CBA's Christopher Mesi Scholarship are two more exciting and vital parts of the BITS program. More news about workshops will be published soon.
